Monique Martin

My name is Monique Martin. I am born and raised in New Orleans, LA. I am a devoted stay at home mom of two boys and a military wife. My husband has been serving in the Navy for 10 years now.  We lived in Yokosuka Japan, Virginia Beach VA, Seattle WA, and now San Diego, CA; which is our last duty station.

I started sewing in 2013. I sewed my very first dress than went on to sew a bunch of skirts because skirts are sooo easy to sew ^_^.  But, along my sewing journey I discovered that I love sewing crafts, and so I started sewing crafts as gifts for family and friends. I started sewing handbags, messenger bags, and yoga mat bags (which is a new thing now), microwave bowl cozies, placemats, table runners, quilts, and much more. I actually had the idea of sewing all my crafts with African print fabric because I think it would be “sewunique” ^_^.  Now, I have that opportunity to do this now that I have joined the Ankaka Sew Tribe.
